Investigating Cloud Solutions

Posted on 17/11/2009. Filed under: Cloud Computing, Enterprise Architecture |

Once you get your perceptions around brick-and-mortar the cloud movement is not really anything so “new”.

There are a myriad of service providers for cloud solutions depending on your business requirements.

If you are a home computer user, then LiveMesh, Google, Box.Net are all suitable solutions for storage, document / file server, email etc. Most of them also offer business solutions.

For cost-effective CRM solutions, one could use salesforce.com. Their cloud CRM solutions start at 5$ per user per month.

If it is pure storage you are after, then Amazon’s Simple Storage Solution (S3) is a very viable option. More about pricing is available here.

The competition to Amazon is Nirvanix who claim they are the “Premier Enterprise Cloud Storage Service”. Their pricing is more specific and for enterprise solutions you will have to talk to a representative.
